Ministries
First Baptist Church Las Colinas is a family-integrated church. Our primary goal is to strengthen the biblical head of household and to build families around the Word of God. To that end, our church differs in a lot of respects from your traditional church. Here are a few ways in which we seek to build strong biblical families.
- We believe in expository preaching from God's inspired, inerrant, infallible, and imperative Word.
- We have a weekly men's accountability and discipleship group using the Internet.
- We have a weekly 3-hour Faith Bible Institute to teach people the exciting truths of Scripture.
- We do not have a ministry to the youth of our church.
- Instead, we have youth that DO ministry.
- They have opportunities for drama, music, soul-winning, puppetry, and more.
- We treat young people like adults after the age of 12-13.
- We encourage children to sit with their parents during family Bible training (at 10:00 a.m.) and during worship (11:00 a.m. and 1:45 p.m.). We believe that a church's mission is to keep families together, not split them apart as soon as they arrive.
- We welcome people from every culture. We have started Chinese congregations and now hope to help an Indian church. All are welcome in our services.
- We believe missions is a priority. We seek each year to increase the previous year's missions giving.
- We post audio and video resources online in order to help equip Christians around the world.
- We encourage whole families to be in ministry together. Our church has several ministry families attending.
- We encourage home education of children though we also welcome families with children attending public and private schools.
- We believe in having a generational ministry. Parents, children, and grandchildren are encouraged to serve the Lord together. Our own church staff has 3 generations serving on it.
